Build your own Kruger safari: which style suits you?
Our safaris range from budget safaris in SANParks huts or safari tents, to comfort safaris in private air-conditioned en-suite chalets, luxury safaris at hotels and lodges, and fly-in safaris to private-reserve lodges. Each style can be combined with the activities and length of stay that suit you.
Frequently asked questions
How does the Build Your Own Safari tool work?
You answer a few questions about your start point, length of trip, number of guests, accommodation, meals and activities. The tool then suggests the Nhongo Safaris packages that match your plan best. If none fit, you can send us your plan and we’ll cost it and email you a quotation.
Is sending my plan a booking?
No, it’s an enquiry. A booking is only confirmed once we’ve confirmed availability and received your deposit.
Does the tool show prices?
No. We quote every safari individually, in South African Rand, so you receive a quotation based on your exact dates, group size and choices.
How long is the drive from Johannesburg to Kruger National Park?
It takes roughly 5 hours by road to the Kruger gates. Our plans allow for this: on the day you arrive you’ll normally have an afternoon game drive, and on your last day you’ll leave the park in the morning for the drive back.
Can I add night drives, bush walks or other activities?
Yes. You can choose how many of each activity you’d like, including the same one more than once. Some safaris already include certain activities, and the tool shows what’s included and what we can add when we cost your plan. Guided bush walks are for guests aged 16 and over.
How many guests do I need?
Our multi-day safaris are private and need a minimum of 2 guests. The 6 Day Bush & Beyond Safari is for 4 to 8 guests. Our Kruger day game drives are priced per vehicle and take up to 10 guests.
How many days can my safari be?
You can plan a safari of up to 14 days. Our longest set safari is the 10 Day Wilderness Kruger Safari, and longer or more complex trips are planned individually.
Can I fly instead of driving?
Yes. Our fly-in safaris start at Hoedspruit Eastgate Airport and stay at private-reserve lodges in the Greater Kruger. Flights aren’t included, but we can arrange Airlink flights for you at an additional cost.
What is included in your safaris?
Conservation and entrance fees are included on all multi-day safaris, together with transfers, professional nature guiding and accommodation, plus breakfasts and dinners where your safari includes them. The exact inclusions and exclusions are shown for each safari.
